Does the institution cover sustainability topics in new employee orientation and/or in outreach and guidance materials distributed to new employees, including faculty and staff?:
Yes

A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

All new hires are sent a New Employee Welcome packet which includes information on University Learning and Development, Wellness Programs, Community Activities, Child Care, etc. Included in the packet is the University schedule for transportation services and carpooling and bicycling information. Employees are then invited to a group orientation program where all aspects and benefits of employment at the University are introduced and explained. The Office of Sustainability (UB Green) provides a power point presentation on conserving resources and protecting the environment. Employees learn of the University’s commitment to reducing waste, recycling and saving energy. In addition they are encouraged to practice these policies in their work and home environment and to report energy and water waste to the UB Green Office.
