Does the institution use timers to regulate temperatures based on occupancy hours in at least one building?:
A brief description of the technology used:
According to UAA's energy policy, classrooms and office buildings “hibernate” when buildings become unoccupied. In most cases the heating systems are set back to 60 degrees during colder outside temperatures and in warmer temperatures the heating systems are not used at all during night set back. Buildings begin to run in an occupied mode with only enough time to make the spaces comfortable by the arrival time of the occupants. Every semester the usage of each building is evaluated and setbacks are adjusted according to occupancy schedules. Buildings are also minimally heated and cooled during holiday periods. These automatic setbacks ensure energy is not wasted in unoccupied facilities, while not endangering the facility itself.
