A brief summary of the climate plan’s long-term goals:

Our Carbon Emission Reduction and Monitoring Plan (CERM) was completed on January 15, 2010. UAA proposes to reduce our carbon footprint by approximately 43% by 2016. The plan will be updated every two years incorporating information that will allow us to more accurately plan for reductions beyond 2016. For example, in May of 2010, the Alaska Legislature passed a state energy policy for obtaining 50% of energy generation in the state from renewable energy sources by 2025. This will be incorporated into our updated CERM, on which the Sustainability Action Board is currently working.
