Does the institution have sustainability-themed housing (residential floor or hall, or theme house) where residents learn about sustainability together and to which residents must apply?:
Yes

A brief description of the themed housing:

The MacLean House was established to provide Alaska Native and other students from rural Alaska with a safe, inviting and supportive group home environment. The MacLean house offers students the opportunity to live in a small community with a cultural focus, allowing them to make the transition to an academic and urban environment in a manner that supports their academic efforts and eases separation from home and family.

MacLean House offers housing for up to 20 single students in the residence hall, a fully furnished one-bedroom apartment for a married couple with no children or single parent with a young child, and a fully furnished two-bedroom apartment for a family with up to two children.

The facility also offers a computer lab, laundry room, lounge and kitchen area. To assist students with the transition to the University, 2 resident assistants and a resident director live on site. Programming includes a monthly potluck with Native foods.

Built in partnership with the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, the MacLean House was named after the late Eileen Panigeo MacLean, an Alaska State Representative, North Slope borough resident and UAF alumni who was strongly involved in Alaska Native rights.
