Yes

A brief description of the event(s):

Since the implementation (Fall 2009) of the SIREN Fee (Student Initiative for Renewable Energy Now!) sustainable themed events have been immensely popular; the Chancellor's Convocation and Summer Sessions course directory both had sustainability themes in 2010. All catering events at UAF must be done through Dining Services; therefore, all catered events on campus are sustainably catered. All dishware and cutlery must be either washable/biodegradable/compostable (no petro-plastics). Five annual events embody the spirit of UAF sustainability: 1) The Really Free Market, the ultimate recycling event that takes place in both the spring and fall 2) The Eco Art Show, in which each semester a campus wide art contest and show is held in the heart or the student rec center, 3) Alternative Spring Break, instead of partying this event takes students to a place of need, be in Barrow, AK or Maob, Utah, they learn social and environmental sustainability though hands on volunteering, 4)The SCTF Earth Day Fair, this year was the 7th annual student organized, completely free, outdoor Earth Day Fair. Finally there is Spring Fest, three days of wild activity reminding Fairbanks students that the snow has melted and new life and new fun await outside.
