Does the institution have sustainability-themed housing (residential floor or hall, or theme house) where residents learn about sustainability together and to which residents must apply?:
Yes

A brief description of the themed housing, including name(s) and descriptions of theme(s):

In 2013, the Office of Sustainability and Residence Services partnered to offer students the opportunity to live on an "eco floor" in our Schäffer Hall Residence, part of the Lister residence complex. The themed housing offered was called the Schäffer Hall Green Wing. Students living in the Green Wing were given many opportunities to get involved in sustainability, which included participating in two presentations:

a) What is sustainability?
Presentation Description: Learn through activities, reading and reflecting that sustainability can mean many different things to different people and can encompass social, environmental and economic perspectives. All of these perspectives are valuable.

b) What does sustainability mean to me?
Presentation Description:Through activities and discussion, demonstrate curiosity and show appreciation of different sustainability perspectives. Reflect and share your personal perspective on sustainability and draw connections between how valuing all perspectives contributes to creating meaningful collective action.

They were also offered the following opportunities to engage in sustainability-focused activities:

- Free registration to the 2013 Student Sustainability Summit

- A welcome bin with sustainability prompts and incentives at the start of term (included an individual recycle bin)

- Invitations to special events and competitions

- Opportunity to serve as a student leader to promote the One Simple Act on Campus Lister Challenge. The Green Wing organized their floor to have the highest participation in Lister for this challenge.

- Green Wing Floor Coordinator has acted as a liaison for access to Lister Hall Students Association's joint council and connected the Office of Sustainability with students that have questions and concerns regarding sustainability

- Opportunity to show leadership and promote the Green Spaces and Darkest Tower Challenge

- Invitation to sign up to the Office of Sustainability newsletter "Sustainability eNews"

- Invitation to become a Campus Sustainability Volunteer
