The Tumamoc: People and Habitats Program utilizes Tumamoc Hill as a living laboratory to test reconciliation ecology concepts as a means of creating spaces that support both human and wildlife use.

Additionally, the UA Campus Arboretum through its efforts, as recognized by Tree Campus USA and the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta, maintain a vast collection of trees and desert plants. The arboretum's collection creates natural wildlife habitats on campus attracting many animals and insect life. The arboretum maintains trees from all over Arizona helping to protect the biodiversity of Arizona.
