The free exchange of ideas and pursuit of the mission of higher education is essential to a sustainable world. A few days after the signing of an executive order by the Trump administration banning visa's from several countries in late January 2017, UA President Hart published a letter of opposition to the Trump administration's actions, citing the profound impact on the university community and the university's mission.

Yes

The University of Arizona president has joined other campus presidents in publicly supporting climate change action, in support of the Obama administration's efforts to solidify a treaty in Paris at COP 21 - including appending University of Arizona climate actions to a list of university pledges orchestrated by the White House in fall 2015.

In addition, the University of Arizona was granted a delegation to COP 21 proceedings, and a number of faculty and students attended on behalf of the University of Arizona to represent the voice of U.S. higher education.
