The University is a designated MS4, and the institution's practices conform to all rules and regulations stipulated by EPA and the AR Dept of Environmental quality. An approved Stormwater Management Plan in place.The University is a member of a coalition of Northwest Arkansas MS4s, which carry out public education and awareness to improve stormwater management practices throughout the region. The University has an approved Stormwater Management Plan and requires contractors to work under an approved Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan on all construction projects on campus. Each development project has a specific SWPP provided by the contractors.
The university Gro-Green garden collects rainwater for use in the garden.
The band instrument building adjacent to Lot 56 has a green roof, as do restroom facilities adjacent to The Gardens.

The Gardens have Grasspave parking spaces and there is raised paving at Hillside.
The headwaters end of Mullins Creek and Poultry Science have vegetated swales.
The University is planning new parking lots with Low Impact Development Strategies such as rain gardens, sub surface drainage, etc.
