Does the institution have an on-campus garden where students are able to gain organic farming and/or gardening experience?:
Yes

A brief description of the garden:

“Ants in Your Plants” (a nod to UC Irvine’s anteater mascot) is a permanent, student-run organic community garden established to provide UCI’s students with hands-on education on sustainable agriculture and its relationship to the community, the economy, the Earth, and the students themselves.

More than 200 students were on hand for the February 5, 2011, groundbreaking, made possible by a $31,970 grant from a student-financed and student-managed sustainability fund, The Green Initiative Fund. (See ER Tier Two Credit 1.) The garden was established at the urging of Students for Sustainability at UCI and the UCI chapter of the Real Food Challenge.

The ASUCI Garden Commission maintains the garden. The commission’s mission is to maximize the garden’s effectiveness in educating students about the food they eat. The goals are met through event and workshop planning, publicity, volunteer management, collaboration with administration and faculty, and "sometimes even a little gardening."
