UC Irvine is a public research university with a complex organizational structure. UCI officially recognizes 77 organizational units as "departments," and a subset of 28 includes faculty members engaged in sustainability research. Additionally, sustainability research takes place in two schools and a college, bringing the total to 31. There is only one school on campus that does not have faculty engaged in sustainability research.
