UC Irvine provides compensation to commuters who opt out of campus parking. Compensation is provided in the form of cash rebates on train tickets, financial subsidies for bus passes, and in-kind payment of parking passes ($14 each with a maximum payout of $70 per month per employee) for rare times when the employee needs to bring a vehicle to campus (e.g., emergencies, family needs, or transporting large objects to work).
