A brief description of when and why the workplace health and safety baseline was adopted:

The UF Office of Environmental Health and Safety was established May 24, 1974 to comply with federal and state regulations regarding workplace, lab and radiological safety. The office updates their safety and workplace hazard and injury information on a yearly basis in compliance with Florida reporting requirements, effectively establishing a baseline for future comparison each year. This process is designed to monitor the performance of the University, with regards to employee safety, and to provide comparison with other institutions in the state.
