The Building services department of FMD purchases only cleaning products with a third party certification. In addition to Green Seal and EcoLogo we also accept the US Environmental Protection Agency DFE (Designed for the Environment) certification. Our green cleaning program has been certified green since 2008 thru the ISSA CIMS program which will expire November 2014.

In 2011, UGA updated its green cleaning certification and was the first university in the US to receive CIMS – Green Building Certification. All resident instruction facilities at UGA are managed using certified green cleaning products and procedures.

UGA also received honorable mention in the American School & University Magazine's 2008 Annual Green Cleaning Awards for its efforts.

The University of Georgia recently received the co-grand award in the College/University category of the 2010 Green Cleaning Award for Schools and Universities, sponsored by American School and University magazine, the Green Cleaning Network and Healthy Schools Campaign.
