A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

The employee educators ("Green Champions") are self-selected to promote sustainable working and living practices to their colleagues. Participation in the "Green" Office Program is voluntary and requires approval from the department head.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

The Office of Sustainability meets / communicates regularly with Sustainable Office - Green Champions to provide information and resources to facilitate peer-to-peer education. Resources include optional breakroom composting service, access to our Resource Library (with books, reusable event supplies, etc.), weekly email with current event and opportunities, monthly email with tips for conserving resources in the office environment, and educational posters and signage.


A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

A full-time program coordinator in the Office of Sustianability administers this program, along with student interns. In addition to staf support, UGA provides recycling facilities, "side saddle" trash bins, compost bins, signage, posters, etc. to Sustianable Offices / Green Champions.

Self-selected. Employees sign up for the course offered through UGA Staff Training & Development.

UGA Office of Sustianaibility staff lead a 3-hour workshop to educate participants on sustianaiblity initiatives at UGA and speicif ways that they - and their colleagues - can get involved; reduce energy, water, waste and carbon emissions at work, and increase a culture of sustianability at UGA.

Office of Sustianability staff provide the training during business hours; leaders and participants are allowed to participate as part of typical work time. Resources such as water bottles, reusable bags and posters/signage are provided to participants.
