Most of UGA's athletic fields are irrigated with harvested water (from well, irrigation pond or cistern).

Low flow fixtures are installed in all restroom facilities and water conservation signage encourages visitors to conserve.
Athletic Fields are painted with environmentally friendly paint.
More than 60% of UGA Athletic Association buildings are cleaned with “Green Cleaning”
products and practices.
UGA Transportation and Parking Services Special Events team strongly encourages the use of alternative transportation on gamedays, and shuttles are provided to limit vehicle use on campus.
2000 temporary, co-located trash and recycling bins are placed throughout campus during each home football game. 1500 trash and recycling bags are given to vehicles in UGA Athletic Association reserved parking lots.
In 2015, a compost pilot in Sanford Stadium Skysuites diverted 1640 pounds of food waste from the landfill to create nutrient rich compost.
The Office of Sustainability holds Zero Waste Tailgates during football season, usually at the most popular games. The goal of the Zero-Waste Tailgate is to encourage tailgaters to help keep our campus clean and reduce our environmental impact on game days by disposing of their waste correctly. During these events volunteers walk around popular tailgating areas to pass out recycling bags and answer any questions regarding recycling on game days. Tailgaters have the option to sign a recycling pledge, pledging to engage in correct recycling practices.
