A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty:

The University of Houston has been awarded a National Science Foundation Institutional Transformation (IT) ADVANCE grant to create a Center for ADVANCING UH Faculty Success. The goal of the NSF ADVANCE program (www.nsf.gov) is to increase the number and success of women faculty in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

One of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences diversity goals is to recruit, retain and foster a diverse faculty and staff. http://www.uh.edu/class/about-us/diversity/

The UH Cullen College of Engineering has an official Future Faculty program and the Graduate School offers fellowships, teaching assistant, and research assistant positions to better prepare students pursuing a career in academia. Furthermore, there are also fellowships/scholarships directed specifically to students from diverse backgrounds.
