A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:

Locally-produced foods, free trade coffees and organic, vegetarian and vegan options are all part of the UI dining experience. UI Housing and Dining Services are committed to providing sustainable products and services.

When possible, UI Housing and Dining Services purchases locally grown and sustainable foods from vendors. The UI believes in supporting local farmers. Purchasing locally also provides fresher, better tasting foods and limits environmental impacts by reducing transportation distance.

All seafood must be sourced from fisheries that are Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) members and who follow Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) guidelines. To support local farmers and anti-cruelty initiatives, the UI Dining Market Places purchase cage-free eggs locally.
