The Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity prepares a number of reports on behalf of the University of Iowa related to the diversity of the university’s workforce and the diversity efforts and accomplishments of its faculty, staff, and students. The office assists faculty members needing UI diversity data for their applications for federal/state grants or contracts and responds to special requests for data for university administrators upon request to the EOD director. Examples include the data digest, detailing graduation rates for minority students, the Title IV report, and under-representation report for faculty and staff.

Does the assessment process address campus climate by engaging stakeholders to assess the attitudes, perceptions and behaviors of faculty, staff, administrators and students, including the experiences of underrepresented groups?:
Yes

Does the assessment process address student outcomes related to diversity, equity and success (e.g. graduation/success and retention rates for underrepresented groups)?:
Yes

Does the assessment process address employee outcomes related to diversity and equity (e.g. pay and retention rates for underrepresented groups)?:
Yes

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives:

The assessments indicate generally positive results. The Iowa Board of Regents, Chief Diversity Officer, HR, admissions, and other University Leaders, leverage data in the above reports to drive strategic initiatives:
A very high-level summary is included below:
1) The proportion of minority enrollment has increased steadily (from the Data Digest). This has been a result of the continued efforts of recruitment and retention programs initiated under the CDO.
2) The proportion of women and minorities in most faculty and staff activity groups have increased over the period, with average annual changes around 5%. Areas for improvement have also been identified.

Are the results of the most recent structured diversity and equity assessment shared with the campus community?:
Yes

A brief description of how the assessment results are shared with the campus community:

The University of Iowa makes reports publicly available via their website. Additionally, the Chief Diversity Office annually posts a one-hour update on the status of diversity initiatives on campus. A link for data and reports has been included in the credit submission, and below is the CDO's annual update.
