The University of Manitoba identifies sustainability as a strategic objective. the Office of sustainability , established in January 2013 maintains a website which serves as an interactive hub between the University and the campus community around sustainability issues.

The Sustainability Walking Tour is an example of a product that was produced by student employee in the Office of Sustainability. It highlights the various sustainability features in/of buildings and structures on campus. It also informs of sustainability services available on campus.

The University of Manitoba strives to offer a range of transportation choices to students and staff. By enabling and encouraging safe and practical options such as walking, cycling, public transit, and carpooling, the University supports individual choices relating to increased wellness and reduced environmental impact.

The University supports community members who choose to travel sustainably. The UofM Smart phone App has a layer for walking map (tunnels) and the Winnipeg Transit app built in to support people who travel sustainably. The Office of sustainability also provided city and community maps to campus members free of cost.
