In 2011 the University updated their revised Health and Safety Policy. The policy underscores the University's commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace for staff, students and visitors and clarifies that the responsibility and accountability for health and safety is an integral part of the duties of supervisory staff at all levels, including the senior executive.

HEALTH & SAFETY GENERAL ORIENTATION
The Introduction to Health and Safety Programs at the University of Manitoba presentation provides an introduction to the safety and health programs in place at the University of Manitoba. Individuals may work through it at their own pace and complete the acknowledgement at the end of the presentation. The information provided is general in nature, and highlights many of the programs in place. It is not intended to be a comprehensive review of all elements of the program. Specific work areas have specialized required training programs.
HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEES
Front-line staff actively participate in health and safety matters through Health and Safety Committees at the University and assist supervisors in recognizing and responding to workplace safety and health issues.
SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
The Environmental Health and Safety Office provides a variety of training seminars and workshops to U of M staff and students.
