A brief summary of the climate plan’s long-term goals:

The University of Maryland’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) is a 40‐year strategic plan for how the campus will become carbon neutral by 2050, which is the plan's overarching long-term goal.

There are 13 long-term goals under the Administrative Policies category, 13 goals in the Power and Operations category, 15 goals under the Transportation category, 2 goals under the Solid Waste category, and 9 goals under the Education and Research category. The full plan includes tables summarizing these long-term goals and the strategies UMD will use to reach them. In the short-term, the plan set the following targets:
