The name of the campaign(s):
Eco-Rep Program and Sustainability Initiative Campaigns

A brief description of the campaign(s):

One of the major aspects of the Eco-Rep Program is teaching the students in the program to develop and run their own campaigns on issues surrounding sustainability. Over the past 4 semesters has involved over 225 students and has reached out consistently to the undergraduate class consistently.

The Sustainability Initiative has done many outreach campaigns, one of the most prominent examples is the sustainable move-out campaign they launched at the end of the Spring 2010 semester. Students moving out of the dorms were provided with dumpsters for recycling, trash, and donation. There was also educational material provided to the students to inform them of how to properly move out and use the receptacles that were provided. The initiative has also launched an Energy Dashboard program in the dorms that allows students to see in real time the amount of electricity, water, and steam being used i the dorm.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):

From the Eco-Rep Program we have seen a decrease in the amount of electricity used in the dorms. For example the dorm Van Meter saw a decrease in the amount of electricity used by 10% from April 2008-April 2009.

The Sustainable Move Out diverted 110 tons of waste from being disposed of improperly. The waste was sent to recycling facilities.
