A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:

We gathered data from 3 sectors using our Parking and Transportation (P&T) Department's permitting records: Parking permits sold to students in FY 2015 (we assumed all students drove alone), metro passes (metro rail and bus together) sold to students for FY 2015, and bike permits sold to students for FY 2015. From the counts we estimated the percentage for each category. Since we don't currently have a survey on transportation habits, we were unable to track or estimate the percentage of walking/other non-motorized commuting by students. Carpooling is not tracked except when reported to Florida Department of Transportation (FL DOT) during their incentive campaigns, but it remains negligible. The number of scooter permits provided by P&T is also negligible. The campus offers campus shuttles for getting around the campus, but they aren't used for commuting.
