The Planet Blue Renewable Energy Demonstration Project (PBREDP) provides an opportunity for the campus community to become involved in University GHG reduction efforts by making funds available where by students, faculty, and staff can design and implement demonstration scale projects. While not expected to make a great impact on the U-M GHG goal, stationing small demonstration scale renewable energy generators on campus will provide interactive learning and research opportunities for the campus community. Budget for this initiative is set at $250,000. Distribution of the funding will occur through a competitive bid process where proposal submittals will be evaluated by a review committee.
Current award winners include funding for a solar array on the new student built Strawbale House and a research project on bio-digestion.
