Undergraduate students who enroll in and complete the Community Engagement Scholars Program receive documentation of program completion on their academic transcripts. The program requires 400 hours of documented community work, 8 credits of service-learning courses, a series of reflection submissions based on program themes, and completion of a capstone course and an integrative community engagement project for a community partner organization.

The University of Minnesota Outstanding Community Service Awards recognize faculty, staff, students, and University-affiliated community partners who, by devoting their time, talents, and expertise to serve the public good, have made significant, demonstrable, and direct contributions to society's well-being. Award recipients receive an engraved statue, a monetary award, a special recognition ceremony and have their name hung on the Wall of Honor at the University's Campus Club in the Coffman Memorial Union building for a year.
