A brief description of the student research program, including the incentives provided and any positive outcomes during the previous three years:
The EDDEC institute (Institute for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Circular Economy) organizes an annual scholarship competition for projects on environment, sustainable development and circular economy. This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students from the three founding institutions of the EDDEC Institute (Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and HEC Montréal). The purpose is to promote multidisciplinary research in these areas.*
Nine scholarships, representing a total amount of 60 000$, were awarded for each of the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 periods. A total of 8 students from Université de Montréal benefited from that program.

In partnership with TD Bank, the EDDEC Institute is organizing an annual scholarship competition in environment, sustainable development and circular economy. Addressing the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral students of the three founding institutions (Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and HEC Montréal), it stimulates multidisciplinarity in these fields.
The Université de Montréal staff, member of the CIRODD (Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Opérationnalisation du Développement Durable), have access to a 5 000$ funding to support interdisciplinary research addressing the ways to implement sustainable development. The aims of that program are to facilitate:
- the realization of pilot projects, work groups, or publications aimed to generate preliminary results that could help in obtaining additional funding;
- the establishment of new multidisciplinary and intersectional collaborations;
- the funding of interdisciplinary projects;
- the transfer of knowledge to the industry, the government, or other public and semipublic organizations.

The Université de Montréal library has produced a guide to support students and faculty members who want to further their knowledge about sustainability. The guide suggests a wide range of documentary resources and provides a list of major actors in sustainability at Université de Montréal.
