Université de Montréal launched in 2013 a vast effort to ban bottled water on its campuses. More than a mere statement, the University also worked on adding swan necks on water fountains, repairing equipment (flow, water temperature, metallic taste, etc.), installing new fountains, and replacing obsolete fountains.
The ban on bottled water helped to avoid 80,000 plastic bottles each year and was a clear support of the city's water system.
