Office of Multicultural Affairs - The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) and Multicultural Center are places where students from diverse backgrounds can come together to plan events and raise cultural awareness on campus.
International Education - Each year students from 50 countries make UNK their first choice in quality education. Our International Center offers the resources that all International students need: arrival help and orientation, information on immigration requirements, cultural counseling, and a place to relax and study. Thompson Scholars - A community for the recipients of the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation Scholarships, the William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community (TSLC) is designed to enhance the learning and living experience of UNK Students who have been awarded a scholarship by the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation. The learning community affords the scholars additional academic support from a faculty director, TSLC Staff members, and peer mentors, alongside all of the exceptional resources provided through the UNK campus for student success. Women’s Studies - The mission of the Women's Center is to foster a campus community in which women and men live and work together in a mutually respectful environment. Cultural Diversity Courses - The purpose of the Cultural Diversity requirement is to introduce students to non-Western cultures (such as those of Africa, Asia, and Latin America) and to give voice to traditionally underrepresented groups in America and Europe. Gender Equity Committee - The Chancellor's Committee on Gender Equity is charged with the dual responsibility of reviewing policies and practices and of making appropriate recommendations in order to avoid any sexual discrimination which may affect faculty, students and staff in an academic, professional, or personal manner. Queer Straight Alliance -Whether you are a member of the LGBTQ community, or a straight ally, this is an organization that will help raise awareness, promote education, and provide a safe space for LGBTQ persons and issues. ADA Committee - The University of Nebraska at Kearney's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee exists as a vehicle to advise the Chancellor on ADA policies and practices. The Committee has two distinct charges. First, the Committee is charged with reviewing and supporting the development of institutional policy and identifying potential areas of concern in matters related to disability issues. Second, the Committee is charged with serving as a review panel for accommodation plans upon the request of the ADA Coordinator. These charges are designed to encourage and support disability initiatives and to protect individuals and the university community collectively from the possible moral and legal repercussions of the violation of ADA/504 guidelines. Professional Development Committee of Staff Senate – This committee seeks to bring speakers and various activities to campus to facilitate professional development as well as campus involvement. Disability Awareness Week – Activities during this week support education and inclusion. Activities include speakers, panels, movies, etc.
