In the last four years UNL has greatly expanded its recycling efforts in ways including larger staff, added recycling trucks, new weight stations, and expanded recycling in Memorial Stadium.
UNL had its first successful Zero Waste event in the fall of 2013 and is continuing to reach out to the University Community with events such as Go Green for Big Red, Game day Recycling Challenge, RecycleMania, Focus Nebraska, and the Nebraska Sustainability Roundtable.

Donations of leftover food are made through FoodNet; a service in which individuals pick up food rather than having it delivered. Food donations come mainly from conferences held at the university.
