A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The methodology UNLV used to complete the research inventory was found through the UNLV Employee Database (https://webapps.oit.unlv.edu/eel/). Key words involving sustainability were used in order to create the inventory.

Below are a few notable accomplishments during the previous three years by faculty engaged in sustainability research:
1) Solar Decathlon

The University of Nevada Las Vegas designed its DesertSol house to reflect the spirit of the Mojave Desert. With reverence to the sun as both a source of harsh conditions and a solution for sustainable living, DesertSol harnesses abundant sunlight for solar electricity while capturing rain to provide evaporative cooling and irrigation. The ultra-efficient house is envisioned as a vacation home for a seasonal retreat—a basecamp for desert adventures that responds to its unique environment. Research was prepared on architecture, alternative technologies, and marketing strategies.
2) Resilience Atlas
Ken McCown, Architecture
The atlas is a place-based model tested in Las Vegas to explore bioregional distinctiveness of the water-energy-climate-food nexus, including regional transportation systems. The atlas integrates the systems within a utilitarian organization of information. Systems in this place-based model demonstrate how infrastructure services are efficiently provided for the Las Vegas Valley population.
This resiliency atlas can clarify how the nexus applies to place; and how it can be used to spur geographically germane adaption strategies. In the Las Vegas Valley, climate change (drought and high sustained temperatures) and population affect water, energy, and food systems. This clarity of a place based model can help educate the public about the resilience of their place, and facilitate and organize the planning process in the face of uncertainty.
