Does the institution have policies and/or programs in place to reduce emissions from air travel?:
Yes

A brief description of the policies and/or programs:

As part of UNH's ACUPCC obligations and Climate Action Plan, WildCAP, UNH is developing a system of reporting travel reimbursements and purchases should that would record the mode of travel (plane, train, auto, etc.) and the distance traveled. These data will provide the basis for estimating greenhouse gas emissions associated with faculty, staff, and student travel.

The UNH Energy Task Force Transportation subcommittee is focusing on equipment and policies designed to minimize emissions due to operation of the university fleet, commuter vehicles, and university-sponsored air travel.

UNH operates multipoint video conference bridging services to enable long-distance collaboration and learning, avoiding the need for air travel. The service enables the simultaneous connection of multiple H.320 or H.323 video-conference sites. The UNH video-conference service includes live hot-line support for video conferencing clients. Users of this service can be associated with the Granite State Distance Learning Network (GSDLN) for a rich variety of content and collaboration opportunities: http://it.unh.edu/index.cfm?id=E9938540-B540-DD1F-3A1628EE07FDE4D8 and http://www.gsdln.org/. Technology enabled classrooms also provide support: http://it.unh.edu/index.cfm?id=C1C5696D-FA4C-DDDB-9C3C59D69603380E.

Finally, UNH Media Relations offers studio space with an ISDN phone line for faculty and staff to use with the media for high quality radio interviews and Skype capability to do television interviews remotely. UNH is currently partnered with WMUR (Channel 9) in Manchester, NH, to provide broadcast quality interviews via Skype for outlets around the country.
