A brief description of other outreach campaigns, including measured positive impacts:

The Environmental Assistance Office promotes a regional air quality contest in the summer, aimed at getting commuters to change behaviors by using alternative transportation, fueling vehicles in cooler times of the day, and foregoing driving off-campus for lunch. Campus Cleanup campaigns are run every semester. The Chancellor sends out a reminder to all staff and students, also granting all staff up to 2 hours of paid time to take part. The recycling Office sets up three collecting stations on campus, logging participants and providing information about waste management. Each Campus Cleanup has resulted in collections of about 1-2 tons of litter. Tree Planting events are held every semester, usually the same day as the Campus Cleanup Campaign. Students and staff are invited to participate, and learn about campus landscaping and efforts to increase the tree canopy of Charlotte. Each campaign adds 40-100 trees to the campus.
