The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) provides programs to all students, with areas designated for: History and Heritage; Religion and Spirituality; and Sex and Gender. This center promotes individual student learning and development, provides student services and programming events, and fosters a campus community which promotes student involvement by providing support to 100+ multicultural student organizations. They provide a resource library containing reference literature and video media (VHS/DVD) that cover a variety of topics and an assortment of multicultural publications (magazines, newspapers & newsletters). The MRC partners with the campus Multicultural Leadership Conference, annual International Festival, and the annual MLK Celebration. The MRC is well known for hosting Poverty Simulations which allow students to take part in an interactive experience where they replicate the situations that families living in poverty experience every day – the decisions they must make, and the fears and frustrations they experience. The Office of Multicultural Academic Services (MAS) fosters the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students, especially underrepresented students. Services include academic advising, academic issues workshops, peer counseling and tutoring, and personal counseling.

The university has two incident report procedures for UNC Charlotte community members, to support the policies listed below. One has the option of remaining anonymous and is directed to the Chief of Police at UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety. The other is directed to the Office of Student Conduct in the Dean of Students Office. University Policy 411 is a Student Grievance Procedure that applies to alleged discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity and expression), age, national origin, or disability. University Policy 501 on Nondiscrimination and Procedures for Addressing Reports of Discrimination, states athat educational and employment decisions must be based on the abilities and qualifications of individuals and may not be based on irrelevant factors, including personal characteristics, that have no connection with academic abilities or job performance. The University prohibits discrimination and harassment in its educational and employment decisions and provides equal opportunities for all members of the University community and for all those seeking to join the University community. Complaints about violations of this standard are directed to the Director of Human Resources for employees and to the Dean of Students for students.
