Does the institution have at least one formal sustainability partnership with the local community that meets the criteria as “supportive”?:
Yes

A brief description of the institution’s supportive sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:

Through UNCP's Office for Community and Civic Engagements, students volunteer with several local agencies to support community garden projects in low-income neighborhoods. Students have worked with these agencies to build raised garden beds and plant fruit trees in communities considered to have high levels of food insecurity. These projects happen annually through the UNCP Days of Service.

Does the institution have at least one formal sustainability partnership with the local community that meets the criteria as “collaborative”?:
Yes

A brief description of the institution's collaborative sustainability partnership(s):

UNCP's food recovery program assists with food insecurity issues while being mindful of and educating students about waste. This program recovers food that has been prepared, but would normally be wasted and donates to agencies in the community working to end hunger. Currently, the program supports hunger relief efforts at three agencies: Sacred Pathways, Pembroke Housing Authority, and Campus Ministry Center. This program demonstrates true collaboration between off-campus and on-campus entities as all are involved in the process of recovering food, delivery, and redistributing to local community. The program started in September of 2015 and is on-going.

Does the institution have at least one formal sustainability partnership with the local community that meets the criteria as “transformative”?:
No

A brief description of the institution's transformative sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:
---

A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with distant (i.e. non-local) communities:

The Office for Community and Civic Engagement participates in alternative break trips that take students to other communities across the country where they volunteer during their breaks from school. One of those partnerships is with GreenLight of New Orleans, an organization that is working to put energy efficient light bulbs in low income housing across the city of New Orleans. UNCP students have volunteered with this agency on a regular basis over the past few years. We have even been in conversation about bringing the program to our own community.
