A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the student body:
Supporting diversity and under-represented groups on campus is a core value at UNBC. There are a wide range of programs that support the student body:
- Disability Services is committed to the goal of creating and maintaining physical, intellectual and social access to the University for persons with disabilities. The mandate of Disability Services is to assist in reducing the physical, attitudinal and systemic barriers faced by students with disabilities.(http://www.unbc.ca/disabilities/)
- The Learning Skills Centre is committed to supporting and enhancing student learning and to providing the skills students will need to become life-long learners. Through collaborative partnerships, the Centre offers services and resources that empower students to take responsibility for their own learning (http://www.unbc.ca/lsc/index.html)
- The First Nations Centre provides comprehensive services for Aboriginal Students, as well as academic and cultural support for all UNBC students. Career as well as personal counselling is available to help students make the most of their university experience. The warm and welcoming atmosphere encourages communication and exchange, thereby providing a bridge between aboriginal students as well as non-aboriginal student(http://www.unbc.ca/firstnationscentre
- The Northern Women's Centre is a student-directed non-profit organization that operates a space at UNBC. The Centre aims to house information on women's issues as a service to the whole community, and to educate, particularly through free training programs, talks, workshops and special events.(http://www.northernwomenscentre.ca/)
- The Northern Pride Centre Society is dedicated to providing resources to LGBTQ individuals and other marginalized populations. The Society operates a safe space with a library, peer support, and other resources at UNBC

- The Peer Support Network is a community of student volunteers who provide support to other students on campus. Each volunteer participates in comprehensive and ongoing training that helps them be ready to provide counselling support to their peers. - The Interfaith Chaplaincy provides spiritual care and religious support to the university community (students, faculty and staff) and facilitates interfaith and intercultural dialogue that contributes to wholesome relationships, unity, and a sense of community on campus
