A brief description of the plan:
In July 2012 Notre Dame recieved the honorable mention status as a Bicycle Friendly University. Since that time the University has put together a committee to study biking on campus. The goals and members of this committee are below:
Goals
1. To provide structure to collaborative campus cycling initiative.
2. To provide educational programming as well as structured programs to promote the viability of biking to campus to increase ridership amongst the ND community.
3. To address logistical and safety concerns: routes to campus, campus paths, repair, shelter, parking
4. To promote surrounding community cycling opportunities and initiatives.
5. Resubmit ‘Bicycle Friendly University’ application.

Since its formation, this committee has reviewed bicycling in campus including facilities, storage and engagment of bicyclists. We are in the process of inventorying bike racks on campus and have created several events and a blog for bicyclists. See below:

The committee is now working on a resubmission of the Bicycle Friendly University survey for Spring 2015.

As of mid-2014, about 64.8 miles of bicycle routes have been established within the City. This total consists of multipurpose paths separated from streets (17.4 miles), striped bike lanes (16.4 miles), and other designated on-street routes (31.0 miles).
