A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

As new employees enter the University of Oregon (UO) their ideas are often big, assumptions are prominent, and the unknown can make them feel somewhat overwhelmed in the magnitude of the institution. The New Employee Orientation (NEO) is designed to introduce new employees to the culture and the terrain of the UO experience. Through this resource, new employees can move from mere images of the UO to create a vibrant collage of opportunities to help them succeed. Since 2013, sustainability has been featured as a core principle of the UO culture, as represented in the UO Mission Statement, and learning activities embedded in the program that focus on optimizing resources. The Office of Sustainability is invited to each NEO program to provide information during a Resource Fair. This Fair provides vendors opportunities to visit, one-on-one with the new employees, providing an overview of their resources, and sharing ideas about how to best integrate key principles in their everyday decision making as they start their tenure at the UO. The UO mission statement states, "We value our shared charge to steward resources sustainably and responsibly."
