A brief description of how the assessment was developed:

This was developed by students and the university's office of institutional research. This survey collected a baseline assessment of freshmen and sophomore sustainability knowledge.

A brief description of how the assessment was administered:

The survey was distributed to all undergraduate students through the office of institutional research.

A brief summary of results from the assessment:

Results indicated that underclassmen come to Puget Sound with a fairly strong sustainability understanding. This was evidenced by overwhelmingly strong support for recycling as well as for increasing the number of materials recycled. The survey also helped us identify sustainability goals for next year, including reusable to-go food containers, increasing reusable to-go mugs in the cafes, community run on-campus farmer’s market, and a desired increase in sustainability pilot grants.
