The purpose of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, founded in fall 2006, is to bring together members of the University Community who are engaged in diversity outreach initiatives.

The committee meets monthly to discuss ongoing and upcoming initiatives and events, and members of the committee continue to focus on enhancing the environment for diversity and inclusion across the University. The Spotlight on Diversity initiative, which began in the spring of 2010 is a monthly feature in @Rochester, Student Buzz and the Parents Buzz. Committee members are also actively involved in the Office of the Vice Provost’s efforts to produce the Diversity Celebration posters which provide resources and organizational support to annual diversity and inclusion programs of interest to students, faculty and staff. We now organize posters around Black History Month, Women's History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBTQI Awareness Month, Asian Heritage Month and Native American History Month.
