The University of Rochester offers a fair wage based upon the prevailing market and we do not have employees below state mandated minimum wage guidelines which are higher than federal minimum wage guidelines. Our benefits are considered to be well above average and we offer education opportunities and retirement in addition to health, dental and eye care coverage.

Much like benefitted employees, hiring ranges for student employees exist to help ensure equity across the various student employment roles at the University. Students are normally hired into a position at the low end of the hiring range, but a higher starting rate may be appropriate based on qualifications and experience that the student is bringing to the job.
The New York State minimum wage rate is increasing over a three-year period. On December 31, 2014, the rate became $8.75. Our base rate is equal to New York State's minimum wage.
