Campus Sustainability Week

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

Over the course of a week in October, the Office of Sustainability hosts numerous events and initiatives that aim to highlight sustainability at the U of S and empower student and employee groups to host their own events or initiatives. Highlights of 2015's Campus Sustainability Week include:
- A Sustainability Expo to showcase student groups,
- A documentary film night hosted by the Environmental Studies Students Association,
- A lecture night featuring a prominent local environmental writer,
- A winter cycling workshop hosted by the Office and local cycling groups,
- A waste management information fair in partnership with the city's primary recycling provider, and
- A transformation of the main admin building plaza into a popup cafe by the Planning Students Association to demonstrate the importance of public spaces.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

A near double in the increase of regularly participating sustainability-related student groups, increased participation and attendance over 2014's Campus Sustainability Week, and a new and popular Sustainability Expo.

Work Green Energy Conservation Month

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):

The Work Green workplace champions program is an outreach program designed to engage university employees, educate them on sustainability issues at the university, and empower them to lead their own initiatives and events to further sustainability causes on campus.

During the month of March we host Energy Conservation Month as an opportunity to engage employees on energy related topics. Each Work Green champion hosted the campaign within their office and recruited commitments to energy saving behaviors for the month of March.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Since last year, Work Green's employee participants have doubled in number. Grant requests and amounts have increased and event numbers have increased. Signatures and commitments during Energy Conservation Month are counted.
