Yes

A brief description of the assessment(s):

From 2007-2008, the Diversity Council consisting of 22 administrative, faculty, and student members developed a process to assist academic units to develop individual diversity plans. Each college was required to measure diversity by answering specific questions. Moreover, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment provided the assessment to measure tenure line & non-tenure line Faculty by gender and ethnicity, Exempt & Non-Exempt Staff, and Student Enrollment and number of degrees awarded by gender and ethnicity.

Year the assessment was last administered:
2,008

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

As a result of the Council's efforts, more than 90 academic and non-academic units have developed and submitted diversity plans to the Council for review and comment. A report was issued to the Office of the Chancellor regarding the diversity plans. In addition, the Office of the Chancellor began to use diversity efforts as one measuring factor in assessing budget requests from campus units. Working with the Vice Chancellor of Communication, the Council developed six basic diversity goals that have been endorsed as campus-wide guiding principles. Finally, as part of the Strategic Planning Initiative, diversity was incorporated as an on-going, integral part of the planning process to reflect the campus vision regarding current and future growth and development.
