A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):

Mission Statement
The mission of the University of Texas at El Paso Wellness Program is to create awareness of healthy and positive lifestyle choices by providing tools, resources, education, and peer support necessary to support healthy living and therefore reduce the incidence of preventable illnesses and injuries.
The University of Texas at El Paso’s Wellness Program provides opportunity and initiative for UTEP staff, faculty and students to participate in a healthier life and work style.
The program’s premise is that health conscious, educated and physically fit individuals can lead to a healthier more effective employee and/or student. UTEP recognizes the importance of employee and student education and appropriate physical fitness as contributing factors to both improved work and health outcomes and as a means to enhance personal health and wellbeing. Everything we hear and read today about living longer, healthier lives revolves around a better diet, frequent exercise and gaining a better understanding of what helps us meet our goals. It is our hope that this program will provide more opportunity for our staff, faculty and students to achieve a better, healthier lifestyle.
