UDC has a central website for all of its sustainability information on campus, which disseminates information to the students, staff, and community. All major documents are posted here, as well as news updates, resources, and contact information for the Director of Planning and Sustainability and Sustainability Manager at UDC. There is also information about which academic offerings at the University address sustainability-related topics.

Beginning in August 2010, UDC has started developing and sending out bi-monthly sustainability newsletters to University stakeholders. The newsletters cover the latest initiatives, programs, events, and information related to sustainability at UDC.

UDC's Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) regularly publishes student research to its website. WRRI also placed a touch-screen monitor outside the Van Ness Campus environmental quality lab at which students, faculty, and staff can access student presentations and projects in digital form. WRRI also produces a seasonal newsletter titled "Water Highlights" which covers recent research projects completed by faculty and staff at UDC.

A brief description of the sustainability walking map or tour:

UDC has developed a campus sustainability map that highlights the locations of sustainable features of the campus. The map provides information about current projects as well as future projects. Topics covered on the map include resource efficiency, transportation, and research projects. UDC recently participated in the annual Cultural Tourism DC Walking Town DC event on October 1, 2011. The tour explored new sustainability measures adopted by UDC, which included some of the physical improvements to the Van Ness campus, and also covered operational and academic advancements in sustainability on the campus.

UDC's campus sustainability map includes the location of bus routes, bike racks, Zipcars, Metro stations, and Capital Bikeshare stations that serve the Van Ness Campus. These items were intentionally included within the map to provide guidance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding transportation options for getting to and from UDC. In addition, UDC employees enjoy a pre-tax benefit for commuting via Metro. UDC's Division of Human Resources provides a guide to participating in the commuter benefits program, which is available at http://dcop.dc.gov/dcop/frames.asp?doc=/dcop/lib/dcop/services/employee_bene/pdf/adp_commuter_participant_ocb_guide.pdf.

The UDC Sustainability Initiative produced educational recycling posters which have been posted in proximity to all 150 trash and recycling multi-ports located throughout the Van Ness Campus. The posters contain a list of all materials that can be recycled as well as those that are not recyclable. The poster also contains contact information for the UDC Sustainability Initiative, including its Facebook page and Twitter feed.

The UDC Sustainability Initiative developed a social media strategy to engage online audiences via Facebook and Twitter. Frequent updates are provided to both accounts, including photos, videos, information about events, and links to outside content. In partnership with DC Water, the UDC Sustainability Initiative developed an outreach campaign to promote the healthy, sustainable consumption of filtered DC tap water. A series of six different signs have been posted at all Brita hydration station locations on the Van Ness Campus. The signs include interesting facts that compare bottled water and tap water.
