Educators were selected through peer referral, electronic inquiry or self-nomination. The educators are tasked with completing the Green Office Certification application, detailing how the office handles waste management, purchasing, energy, transportation, events and the break room/kitchen in relation to sustainability. Many of the actions that offices can earn points with are related to peer-to-peer education, including: actively communicating double-sided printing as default standard, encouraging/facilitating distribution of leftovers, holding an environmental service day and sending regular email reminders about office sustainability (turn off lights, utilize recycle cans, etc.).
