A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

The initial group of educators were early adopters who organized groups within their departments or were invited to do so by supportive directors. Based on their successes, the expansion of active green teams at the department or college level as included as a strategy in the 2010 Climate Action Plant, with a new cohort added each year. In 2011, President Michael K. Young sent a request to all deans and directors to consider participating, and 15 new teams have been created.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

An advisors group consisting of representatives from the Office of Sustainability, the Energy Management Office, the Recycling Office, and the Marriott Library host an annual half-day training and then monthly workshops on topics of specific interest. Educators in turn share information and spearhead specific projects with their department green team and other staff.


A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

Green Team advisor staff time and expertise; financial support from the Office of the Senior Vice President for Administration for workshops and administrative staff time.
