A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

The University of Utah has three different employee engagement surveys aligned to different parts of campus, one in health sciences, one in the main campus and one in hospitals and clinics. The populations covered by the surveys are slightly different and the information is communicated differently. The surveys are all on-line and anonymous

Employee Engagement Survey (2014)
The survey was given to benefitted staff in colleges and departments on Main Campus, excluding faculty members. The Employee Engagement Survey was designed to measure the major factors that influence commitment in employees, as well as to gather employee feedback on current issues, including satisfaction with benefits and retention factors. Response Rate: 1768 Completed responses, representing about 42% of the surveyed population.


A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):

Survey data is collected by the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, and used to inform employee training and employee development workshops.
