UW submitted a nomination for the NACUBO Excellence in Sustainability Award, which honors institutions that have demonstrated excellence and innovation in a full range of sustainability leadership: finance, facilities, operations, environmental, community, and climate.

UW is the 2019 Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC) host, and UW staff are heavily involved with the conference planning committee.
UW was also a member of the WOHESC 2018 planning committee, and the 2016 and 2017 Smart and Sustainable Campuses Conference planning committee.

The UW worked with Seattle University and Special Olympics staff to implement sustainability initiatives during the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games which was held at venues on the UW and Seattle University campuses.
