Newly formed Presidential Committee on Campus Inclusion (2014) focuses on students, staff, faculty and community.

Through thoughtful, deliberate, and inclusive assessment of current efforts and resources, dialogue, and research, the committee will provide the President recommendations to improve diversity and inclusiveness at UWG. These recommendations will be in the form of a Diversity and Inclusiveness Plan in alignment with the institutional strategic plan timeframe, 2014-2020, and includes specific goals, objectives, data indicators, and, if needed, organizational recommendations to implement the plan.

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

Several offices offer diversity trainings to student leaders through various mentoring programs (orientation leaders, SGA officers, Housing and Residential Life Resident Assistants and Directors, SAFE ZONE trainings, Tutor trainings, AAMI & MAP mentor trainings, etc.). The Center for Diversity and Inclusion offers diversity activities and events to further support the general student body. Other cultural competence opportunities are sponsored by the Responsible Sexuality Committee (Episodes in Sexuality, AIDS Awareness, Take Back the Night, The Clothes Line Project and Vagina Monologues).

Health Services Peer Educators address competence related to substance abuse (alcohol and Drugs) and sexual assault. Presentations are offered several times through the academic year.
